Harvest Festival

This week has been crazy busy with meeting, appt., etc. So it was nice that on Friday night we could go out as a family to the school's annual Fall Harvest Festival. There were games, bouce houses, train rides, horse rides and best of all supper (ok maybe that's only my opinion). I unfortunately have no pictures because I have somehow misplaced my camera or better yet, I believe Miss Erica took off with it like she likes to do and put it in a really good hiding spot. I'm sure I'll come across sometime this week.
Bethany, who is terrified of the tiniest kitten rode the horse and loved it! Jaren had a great time playing the different games and loved getting his face painted like a pirate. He slept like that and then the next morning I had to try and work my magic by fixing what rubbed off in his sleep so he could show his cousin Luke.
All in all it was a great night and the weather couldn't have been more beautiful!

Creative thinking! :)

Bethany noticed last night on the way to church that she had a small scratch on her knee. I asked her how she got it. She started thinking and after three ideas finally came up with the real reason she has the scratch. :) Here are the answers she gave me.

1. Maybe a bumble bee stung it.

2. Maybe an ant jumped on it.

3. Maybe an elephant stomped on it.

4. No, I know now what happened...a zebra bit me!

Hope this makes you laugh a little today!

Playing in the rain

The other day we were outside playing when it suddenly started pouring down rain. I was in the garage so I escaped the wetness, but Bethany & Jaren took full advantage of playing outside in the rain and got soaking wet. I offered to go get their shampoo and soap so they could take a shower outside, but they didn't like that idea. :)

Welcome to the world baby Joshua

We are excited that Tim & Lonita's baby arrived safely yesterday around noon. He was a little over a week early and weighed in at 6 lb. 9 oz. We got the chance to go up to Des Moines this afternoon to hold and cuddle baby Joshua. The kids thought he was great and Jaren can't wait to teach him how to play soccer. Bethany just kept looking at him saying, "Isn't he adorable!?" Of course, being a boy, he was blessed with a head full of dark hair. I do believe he has more than Erica does already.
I stole the picture for Jason & Karen's blog since we forgot to bring our camera. I'll get pictures of the kids holding their new cousin later. Bethany is already asking when we can go back up to see Joshua.

Baby Shower

This past weekend, Karen & I hosted a baby shower for Lonita (Kurtis' sister). Since the nursery is jungle themed we thougth we'd carry that over into the shower theme as well. It was a very loud party, which happens when you put 19 females into one room who don't see each other very often. Everyone seemed to have a really enjoyable time and Tim & Lonita should be well on their way to having everything for their soon-to-arrive baby boy. I know the cake is a bit lopsided, but rest assured it did not tip over! :)

Bethany was thrilled to win the box of Whoppers for matching the 10 lb. baby card.

We LOVE Dirt!

Kurtis and his dad were busy leveling off dirt and moving a dike a few weeks back so the kids enjoyed going down there and watching them, riding with daddy and especially playing in the huge piles of dirt. Jaren's goal was to get as dirty as possible in a the shortest amount of time possible. Typical boy! :) They thought they had to wear "farm hats" when going down there also so they look more like farmers.
