Trick-or-treat, smell my feet...?!?

...thankfully this is not what my kids actually said this evening when we went trick-or-treating. They were very polite little goblins and came home with more candy than any little kid ever needs to consume. There bags weighed in at a whopping 4 lbs each! We got to go with Bethany's best buddy ever, Grant. We had Spiderman, Iron Man, a Princess, and a bumble bee. The kids had a great time and are already thinking of what they want to be next year. :)
The darn cutest bumble bee ever!
Spiderman...here to save the day

And I had to show you how cute our little bumble bee is in action.

Football + Friends = Tons of FUN!

On Wednesday night, Jaren invited a few friends to go to the Pella Christian football game with him. Farm Grandma kept the girls so mommy would have her hands free. Let's just say that 4 kindergarten boys have more energy than one 29 year old mom (maybe the popcorn, juice boxes & rice krispie bars didn't help. :) The boys had tons of fun and to top it off PC won 58-13. YEAH!

Baby Shower

This past Saturday I had the privilege of helping throw a baby shower for my sister-in-law, Kristin. She & my brother are due in Feb. with twin girls. Let's just say that these little girls are already spoiled and it will only get worse once they're born.
Uncle Jason was kind enough to take Jaren & Luke to the Fun Factory and then to McDonald's for lunch. Jaren didn't think Drew should come because him and Luke might be kind of wild. :)

HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY

Well, as of 7:19 pm Kurtis is officially a 30 year old. Wow, that sounds really old to me right now. Probably because I know my turn is right around the corner. Here are pictures to commemorate each of his 10 years.

Life started off a little rough...born 2 months early, being a twin and weighing in at 3 lb. 10 oz.

Life as a 10 year old...go to school, come home to farm and have lots of fun with Jason

20 found him as a carefree college student

And at 30 life finds him being the best daddy & husband ever!
We love you!

3 to 30

Well, I haven't been able to post pictures all week like I was hoping, so I hope these will appease those of you that were looking forward to them.
Here's to 3 days until your thirty honey! We love you!

Baker Bethany

Bethany is now taking orders for her delicious cherry pie. She uses some special ingredients to make it super unique such as milk, eggs, green peppers, pop and orange juice...YUM! If you would like one of her special pies, please just let her know and she will whip one right up for you. :) They cost $35 (bucks) each

Here is also a video of Bethany in action making chicken enchiladas for her super night.

Weekend fun

We had a great weekend with lots of fun things going on. Jaren is now sick with the flu so I'm glad we got everything in. He is at least out of bed as of 5:30 when he heard the Packers were playing on tv. Otherwise he would have stayed in bed all day. He hasn't eaten much of anything yet, but hopefully tomorrow will be different. We had a relaxing day home today after deciding not to risk anyone going to church and then getting sick there. It's nice to be home altogether as a family once in a while during the fall. Daddy works very hard and we really appreciate all his hard work and long hours he puts in so mommy can stay home. We love you daddy!!! Also, it's only 1 week until daddy turns 30. You can send birthday messages next Monday to our e-mail address and I'll make sure he gets them. Man we're getting old! :)

We got to go to the last home football game for the Pella Christian Eagles. It was a close game (26-27) with the Eagles coming out on top. The girls lasted until half-time, but then thought it would be more fun to go home with Town Grandma. The Eagles tied with 1 second left on the clock so it all rested on the kicker. Hopefully there will be a playoff game close by for Jaren & I to attend...maybe we can even get daddy to go with us. :)

Jaren studying the players stats :)

Erica & Grandma watching Erica's first football game. She loved to cheer "Go, Go, Go" and dance around like the cheerleaders.

Bethany was much more intent on watching the cheerleaders than the football game. She was bummed when we forgot her pom-poms tonight. :(
Jaren watching closely for the last play of the game...the field goal. He was wondering why they kept calling time out and wouldn't just let him kick the ball.
The PC Eagles before the game started
On Saturday I helped host a "Snug as a Bug" baby shower for a good friend who is due in December. It was a small gathering with very close friends and we had a great time playing a couple of games and eating some delicious food. The kids got to go to Town Grandpa & Grandma's house to play. Jaren loves going there because they have "good cartoons." Unlike at our house where we only have PBS cartoons. Bethany loves to play with the barbies at their house.
Alisa (the other hostess who was also kind enough to clean her house for us), Carol (the expectant mother) and me
Opening gifts is so fun...especially when we know they're having a girl
Our butterfly cheesecake (strawberry swirl...yum!)

Okay, I know this has nothing to do with the weekend events, but I thought it was pretty funny. Erica loves to pretend to go potty, so on Saturday evening I thought I would humor her and let her wear panties. She did a very good sitting still for quite a long while, but then decided to get creative with the potty seat. Doesn't it work much better as a hat?

Autumn Acres

Just wanted to show you the fun that Jaren's class had at Autumn Acres this past Monday.
Old MacDonald had a farm...Jaren, Ethan & Blake posing as farm animals
Jaren launching his apple...he's got quite the muscles!

Sorry the video is the wrong directions, I forgot to rotate it

Fall Family Fest

Here are some pictures that I took at the Fall Family Fest put on by First Reformed Church in Pella. The kids can't wait to go back next year!
